Adult Ministries

Bible Website Banner

Our adults enjoy a rich time of Bible study and fellowship on Sunday mornings in conjunction with corporate worship. Our classes are open to everyone, so you’re encouraged to try different ones until you have found the class that’s right for you. Classes cover a variety of materials from Beth Moore studies, Explore the Bible, Bible Studies for Life, Masterworks, and others.

Adult Small Group Bible Studies

Small group Bible studies at our church provide a way to discover God’s Word through knowledge, understanding and application. Bible study classes are available for every age group and life situation. Small group Bible studies help guests, new members or regular attenders connect with others going through similar life situations during class time and fellowship opportunities. Small group Bible studies provide a way to engage in ministry by participating in service and mission projects.Join us today to learn more about God’s Word and make new friends through our small group Bible studies. Additional Bible studies are offered during the spring and fall semesters on campus and in the future through home Bible study groups. Take a look at the Building Map to see where your classes are being held.

Mission opportunities and service projects

First Baptist Church encourages members to engage in mission opportunities, service and ministry projects. We provide opportunities for people to engage based on their interest or giftedness. Below is a list of opportunities:

Incarcerated Men at the Doña Ana Detention Center

Volunteers lead Bible studies with inmates, seeking to share the gospel with inmates and the hope found in Jesus Christ. Volunteers help with Kairos Prison Ministry at So. New Mexico Penitentiary, and help provides gifts, clothing etc. for the Hospitality House for families of inmates.

Incarcerated Women’s Ministry

IWM offers various ways to impact women for Christ during their time of isolation and vulnerability. Under the Good News Jail and Prison Ministry, our volunteers reach women during their incarceration by offering Bible studies, one-on-one counseling, or assisting in the Chaplain’s office. They can also help by writing letters/cards to inmates, praying daily for them, or donating Bibles, devotionals, and Christian novels to the jail.

Mission Trips – Regional and International

Volunteers participate in a variety of mission opportunities through construction projects, backyard Bible clubs, distributing Bibles, disaster relief with the BCNM, evangelism events and whatever the need will be for new mission churches in Las Cruces, Doña Ana county or the state of New Mexico. Check the Missions page for upcoming trips and opportunities to help.

Women’s Missionary Union (WMU)

The WMU is a group of local Christian women who have embraced a heart for mission support. They lead the charge in the promotion of mission awareness throughout the church year. In addition, they host numerous mission speakers and engage in monthly local mission projects.

“I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” (Matt. 25:40)

“Jesus said the poor you will always have” First Baptist Church members volunteer in feeding the homeless, leading Bible studies, and ministering to the needs of the residents staying at the
Gospel Rescue Mission.
